A recent \u20ac75,000 fine imposed by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) on a Barcelona-based SME has raised alarm bells in the tourism sector. The reason: requiring ID photos and selfies from travelers booking their apartments via Airbnb, claiming it was necessary to comply with the Traveler Registry regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sanctioned company required customers to provide photographs of both sides of their ID card and a facial image (selfie) as a condition for accessing the accommodation.
