Last month, the Government of Catalonia approved the launch of a new grant for BruixIT projects. These grants promote the growth and consolidation of technology-based start-ups led by women, as well as the development of innovative activities within the cooperative movement, with the aim of improving the current digital tools.

On September 18, the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC) published the regulatory bases for the presentation of new grants in the catering sector for the promotion of Catalan gastronomy. Within these subsidies, companies will be able to apply for two types of subsidies

Royal Decree Law 2/2023 on urgent measures for the extension of pensioners' rights comes into force on October 1, following its publication in the Official State Gazette on March 23. This new regulation incorporates an important novelty: for the first time, the contribution of workers with reduced working hours is equal to those who work full time. 

A new tax reform is expected to come into force in January 2025 that will exempt freelancers with income of less than 85,000 euros from the obligation to include VAT in their invoices. The Tax Agency and the self-employed associations are working on the implementation of the European Directive 2020/285, approved on February 18, 2020.

On July 29th, Royal Decree-Law 5/2023, of June 28th, came into force, which approves a new regulation integrating the structural changes of domestic and cross-border commercial companies. In this way, in addition to complying with the incorporation of the European Mobility Directive 2019/2021 into the Spanish legal system, Law 3/2009, of April 3, 2009, is repealed.

On September 1, a series of measures to encourage the hiring of labor published in Royal Decree-Law 1/2023 came into force on January 11, 2023. These changes entail new obligations for companies since, among others, new requirements are introduced that must be met in order to benefit from these bonuses. 

The corporate self-employed, family collaborators, those who must join a professional association and those who are economically dependent (TRADE), among others, must provide certain data on their activity to the Social Security before October 31. In this sense, the General Treasury of the Social Security is contacting all the affected self-employed workers to remind them of this obligation, which implies the extension of information on their activity.
